Frequently Asked Question

What is DNS (Domain Name Servers)?

Last Updated 2 years ago

Domain Name Servers (DNS) are used to point a domain name to its IP Address, which is the physical location of a website. Each domain name has a zone in the DNS that contains records. The records point each form of the domain name to its corresponding host name or IP address.

For example:
DNS Zone: domainname.com
Record: www -> domainname.com
Record: domainname.com -> 209.41.183.225
Record: mail -> mail32.safesecureweb.com

The DNS zones are stored on a name server.
